Being with Probe: Search for palaka...

I arrived at the office at around 12nn
its my day 4

Ate Jan will be our segment producer for the day and her story was about one of the millennium goal, hunger.
basic premise: There is a lead from Adrian Ayalin, in payatas theres a dad with no job or whatsoever and feed her family with frogs, we dont know what kind of frog but, its like an alternative meal for them, just to gratify the hunger.
so at around 1pm the team is composed of

kuya fern, me, kuya driver and ate jan.
I made the necessary call yesterday, and I did go tru follow-up for today at payatas.
Just for an occular visit and possible case study.

Payatas is not that dirty as you think it is, we went to lupang pangako (promised land) a big part of the cut into 4 phases, we went to phase 4 where the lead "lives".

well former president erap had a feeding program at payatas last 16 of april, its his birthday. So the lead sez that while they were distributing food, that father opened up his problem.

so at around 2 we went to see the brangay captain, whos very kind enough to show us the place, in person, we arrived at phase 4 and he recommend us to manong matias a environmental police, nice huh. so we went around asking people and stuff.

Ate jan reminded me some of the SOP in ocular visit,

P.A. Rule number 2
Pay attention to little details and learn as much as you can.
know basic information, like names, contact details, as alike.
it will help you in lot of ways.

so we went around, and its a community of frog eaters, well its a frog they found in the lake but they can't pin-point exactly a person who eats frogs to ease hunger of his family.
they just eat frog for appetizer in drinking session, and we dont want that angle.

I'm in charge in talking to kids and teen agers around the place, ask them about the topic but not directly but leading questions.

I started basic question about the place, with a little bit of interest and friendly manner, I got to talk to a group of friends (4) and they showed me around the place, where they play, hang out and they told me a little history about the place.
Payatas now is a very clean and beautful place actually no garbage, not stinky smells, actualyy a road is being constructed a cemented road just along palawan street.

one that catches my attention is the war going on with the teens in payatas vs. the teens in south near montalban.

the simple "children fight" turned into gun fights, real gun fights among these opposite sides.
one of the kid told me that it all started when they borrowed a gun called 'paltik and sulpak' a homemade kind of gun that generates a massive death blows. When they ask them to return it they where threatened to shoot them.

So as a defense, they fought back, from simple hand to hand combat to knife to knife to gun to gun, they also told me adults started to join the fight, with shot guns and stuff.

the guard in a phil0envest often shoot them from the guard house. to scare them off, and the Junior Mafia from the Souths thought that they are shooting them. so the war began.

anyhow so we have been pass around a couple of people, but they dont like to be interviewed they told us that they captured frogs for pulutan and not for daily meal.

so the referred us the the lake, to find someone who eats frogs, or captures one.

so we went to montalban rizal. in banaba.

under the bridge near the river, we ask several kids if they know someone who eats frogs and other things, they referred as to this old man.

and we found our gold.

he captures, turtles, frogs especially the bull frogs known to be poisoned, janitor fishes, and kuhol a shell fish that found in the river.

so we made our booking and will return to shoot tommorow at 5am before the sun even rises.

so i need to rest early.

have a great day!
cheers!
