TEN (10) Things I love about BAGUIO.
10. THE ZIG-ZAG
You will never fall asleep when you drive here, because you will surely end up in a ravine dead and cold. the "zigzag", it can make you sick and dizzy, but it's a joy ride with the crisp moutain wind slapping against your hair, with pine trees smiling along the way, no stoplights just crossing cows leaving a whole bunch of crap on the roadside. Only in Baguio.
09. Fine... THE WEATHER
yes, yes, it's cold, specially if it's the burrr I mean "ber" months, think japorms jackets, animal bonets, and a classy scarf are a fad. It really feels like Christmas without a snow! and Every 3pm, it rains right on schedule at 5pm it stops automatic. Promise, and if your lucky you'll get a hailstorm (ouch!) and here, you can hug people without getting seriously injured.
08. MARKET PLACE
Your feet will swell and we have a HUGE market place, with all the stuff that you need and don'ts really need. Cheap fresh fruits, green leafy vegetable, plus the aroma of fresh brewed coffee. I've been to other markets in the Philippines but I can tell you this, Baguio only has plastic kids, smiling elders beggars, and a very warm greetings, like your always a tourist even though you've been here all your life, they will always say "pasalubong ading?" wow right?
07. THE SCHOOLS
Baguio's pride: Education, in this small city can you believe that we have a 5 univiersities, 2 major city high school with a dozen of annex and with a science and special programs for the arts (hep-hep?) and a lot of korean, chinese, japanese, french, spanish, tutorial school popping in and out like mushrooms.
06. TAXI CAB
it's raining, you hailed a cab, you entered, the driver will smile,
" ang lakas po ang ulan ah,manong,
oo nga po daming pasahero, san po tayo?" and ask for your destination, you'll say the general location, and he will somehow know where to go without asking anything, you can even ask the driver about his life, some ghost stories and even tell him about your problem. cool huh?
05. CROSS THE STREET
When I got a chance to tour one of my Davao friend Hannah (uy special mention) she mentioned that when ever a person cross the street all the CARS (with s) stop to let that person cross the street. I said, what's wrong with that? alangan namang sagasaan ka nila? She said, that in other places that she been though, it's really creepy to cross the street because the drivers don't freakin care if your crossing they will not stop just to let you cross. I just said, really? okay (still confused, sasagasaan ka?)
top 4 to 1 will be posted tommorow! :)
